Position: Security Guard (X3 Posts)

Successful candidates will report directly to the Security Supervisor and play a critical role in maintaining safety and security within the park.


Purpose of the Role

The main purpose of this role is to safeguard the park, its infrastructure, staff, and visitors. Security Guards will help prevent illegal activities such as theft, trespassing, and wildlife crime.

This role is ideal for individuals who are alert, physically fit, and passionate about conservation and public safety.

Key Responsibilities

Security Operations

  • Monitor the park for suspicious or unusual activities
  • Protect infrastructure, staff, and visitors
  • Report all incidents and security risks

Access Control

  • Record all entries and exits in the access register
  • Ensure only authorised individuals and vehicles enter the premises
  • Perform checks at access points

Patrol and Surveillance

  • Conduct regular and random patrols
  • Inspect facilities for signs of tampering or unauthorised entry
  • Maintain visible security presence

Search and Inspection

  • Perform random searches on vehicles and individuals
  • Prevent theft, illegal removal of goods, or prohibited items
  • Monitor parking areas and assist with crowd control

Reporting and Communication

  • Report incidents to supervisors and management
  • Maintain accurate records of all activities

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for these positions, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Security Certificates (Grades C, D, and E)
  • Valid PSIRA registration

Experience

  • At least 2 years’ experience as a Security Guard

Skills and Knowledge

  • Knowledge of wildlife crime and conservation security
  • Firearm competency
  • Valid driver’s licence with PrDP
  • Understanding of security systems and procedures
  • Basic first aid knowledge
  • Strong communication skills

Physical and Operational Requirements

  • Must be physically fit and able to perform patrol duties
  • Willing to undergo a fitness assessment
  • Ability to work outdoors in different weather conditions
  • Willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
