Requirements

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Recognized NQF level 4 (Grade 12) or equivalent qualifications
  • Basic qualification in Child Care
  • Current registration with South African Council for Social Services Professions [SACSSP]

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Familiarity with legislative frameworks (Children’s Act, Child Care Act, Child Justice Act) related to Child & Youth Care Centres
  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • Excellent interpersonal relationships
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Honesty and confidentiality
  • Customer care skills

Duties and Responsibilities

As a Child & Youth Care Worker, your responsibilities will include:

  • Receiving children and youth to the care facility after admission
  • Providing orientation to children at the center
  • Ensuring the care and development of children and youth, protecting their needs
  • Facilitating access to medical services for children/youth
  • Assisting with the implementation of development and therapy programs
  • Performing administrative duties
