General requirements
- Applicants must be South African citizens
- Applicants must have successfully completed Grade 12
- Applicants must be between the ages of 18-22 if they are Grade 12 applicants
- Applicants must be between the ages of 18-26 if they have a three year tertiary qualification or N6
- Applicants must not have any criminal offense record or pending cases
- Applicants must meet the medical fitness requirements
Requirements for different arms of service
- Requirements for joining the South African Air Force (SAAF), Navy (SAN), and the Military Health Service (SAMHS) may differ from the SA Army
