In this role you will be responsible to sample milk delivered by tankers on arrival, to off-load tankers into silos, as directed by the Standardiser after receiving the results of the sampled milk. To CIP tankers after off-loading. To always maintain a clean milk reception area. To always work safely.
A day in the life of a Tanker Off Loader:
- To sample milk tankers on arrival for milk acceptance tests.
- To off-load milk tankers and to cool milk received to below 5°C.
- To off-load oil tankers.
- To load milk and cream tankers.
- To CIP all milk and cream tankers.
- To daily CIP all fresh milk valve groups and pipelines (milk receipt.).
- Responsible for the housekeeping and daily cleaning of the entire fresh milk reception area.
- Sample milk tankers on arrival as per Work Instruction MYWI 05.47.
- Hand samples over to the Standardiser to do the milk acceptance tests.
- Wait for authorization from the Standardiser prior to start off-loading a tanker.
- Do silo preparation as per Work Instruction MYWI 05.01.
- Open ice water on the milk coolers and check the temperature of the ice water.
- Set the drip sampler to the litre quantity milk in the tanker to be off-loaded.
- Off-load compartments simultaneously unless instructed otherwise.
- All gaskets in use to be in good shape to ensure no leaks occur during off-loading.
- Take separate drip samples of each tanker and calf being off-loaded and hand samples over to the Standardiser.
- Complete the Logbook for each vehicle loaded, off-loaded and CIP cleaned.
- Preparation and monitoring of CIP chemical solution as per Work Instruction MYWI 05.41.
- CIP all milk tankers as per Work Instruction MYWI 05.15.
- Off-load oil tankers when authorized to do so by the Standardiser.
- Load milk and cream tankers on request by the Standardiser
What will make you successful?
- Grade 12, to provide necessary level of reading, writing and simple arithmetic.
- Understand & interpret SOP’s/WI’s.
- Accurate recording of data.
- Conducting and understanding CIP.
