How to Apply to TVET Colleges (Step by Step)
1️⃣ Choose a TVET College & Course
First decide:
• Which TVET college you want
• Which course you want to study
TVET colleges offer:
• Engineering
• Business studies
• Hospitality
• Tourism
• IT
• Office Administration
• Electrical & Mechanical trades
📌 Make sure you meet the minimum requirements (Grade 9–12, depending on course).
2️⃣ Check Entry Requirements
Different courses need different levels:
• NC(V) – usually Grade 9
• NATED (N1–N6) – usually Grade 12 (or Grade 9 for some trades)

3️⃣ Apply Online or At Campus
Most TVET colleges allow online applications, but you can also apply in person.

👉 Create an account
👉 Fill in your details
👉 Choose your course
👉 Submit application
💡 Some colleges require a placement or assessment test.
4️⃣ No Application Fee
Good news 🎉
Most TVET colleges are FREE to apply.
You do not pay an application fee.
5️⃣ Track Your Application
After applying:
• Check your email & SMS
• Log in to your application portal
• Respond if documents are requested
Your status may say:
• Pending
• Provisionally accepted
• Accepted
• Waiting list
6️⃣ Accept the Offer
If accepted:
👉 Log in
👉 Accept the offer before the deadline
If you don’t accept, you may lose the space.
7️⃣ Apply for NSFAS (Very Important)
Most TVET students use NSFAS.
NSFAS pays for:
✔ Tuition
✔ Accommodation
✔ Food allowance
✔ Transport allowance
👉 Apply separately at nsfas.org.za
📌 You must apply for TVET + NSFAS.
8️⃣ Register at the College
After acceptance:
• The college will give registration dates
• Register online or at campus
• Receive timetable & student number
