Programme Overview

The Competition Commission invites high-achieving students and recent graduates with no prior work experience to apply for the 2026 Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) Internship Programme.

This six-month opportunity provides practical exposure to competition law, economics, and related professional fields, while also supporting academic requirements for students who need workplace training to complete their qualifications.

Successful participants will receive a certificate of attendance and a recommendation letter from their assigned coach. The Commission promotes a strong culture of learning and development, offering a supportive environment to nurture young talent.

Target Applicants

The programme is aimed at:

  • Final-year students, or
  • Graduates who have completed a qualification at a University or University of Technology, and
  • Students requiring practical workplace experience to complete their studies.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Have no prior work experience in the relevant field
  • Be in their final year or have completed a Degree or National Certificate
  • Submit a letter of registration (for final-year students)
  • Demonstrate strong academic performance (70%+ average is advantageous)
  • Show involvement in community or developmental initiatives
  • Possess strong teamwork, communication, writing, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate analytical, research, and investigative ability
  • Provide evidence of academic or leadership achievements
  • Be computer literate
